March 15, 2006  Site Redesign

I have been slowly working on a complete overhaul for this site. I don't have a lot of free time, so it is going to take a while. I first designed and developed this iteration of jenfu.org back in 2002, so a redesign has been in order for quite a while.

Got my ankle tattoo fixed. The original was 13 years old so I had japanese style waves tattooed around it so it matches the style on my back. I'm really happy with how it came out. Photos coming.

Other than that I have been working a lot, training and rehearsing for another theater performance coming up in May, snowboarding and generally trying to do what can be done with the house. Tom and I are planning an extended trip up to Tahoe and we want to do this snowcat trek which is basically off piste tours on a snowmobile. Sweet.

February 22, 2006  I'm on the Radio

KQED's "Audio Postcard" of my Capoeira studio with student interviews (aired Friday 1/27 between 4:30-5:00 and 6:30-7:00 on KQED Public Radio 88.5 FM).

February 7, 2006  Construction Approval

We finally got part of our construction approved- the front and most of the front floor. Tom P. delivered our walnut for the post cladding and trim and it is so beautiful. It is all going to look stunning. Next we need to get the drywallers in to put the walls up around the bathroom and hallway, Tom P. will do the woodwork and then we can get the floors done and paint. Hopefully this won't take another 6 months nor break the bank (it is already broken anyhow).

Just had a visit from my good friend Kelly O! She drove down from Seattle, moving some friends down here. We had an intense weekend out - hit just about every bar in the mission. Good times. It was great to see her.

I keep forgetting to take a photo of my tattoo- it is totally done and healed. Since we moved our bedroom downstairs I am pretty unorganized and forgetful. There is no point in keeping things in order while in the midst of construction. It's tore up.

Going up to Tahoe again this weekend. The forecast is sunny- no snow so I doubt conditions will be that great. I am just really busy through the end of the season so I had to pre-pick my travel dates. Guess that is the way it goes. I'm still excited about the trip- will work up there Friday afternoon but I want to chill out and get away from the city for a few days.

January 30, 2006  Quad G5 Baby

Work has been busy, but I ain't complaining because I like the work AND because I got a phat Quad G5 desktop this week. Awwwww yeahhh! It rocks. I was working on such a piece of crap that now I am twice as fast. I love it!

Was going to hit Tahoe again this weekend (went last weekend for an EPIC Saturday at Squaw) but dropped back because of the storm. Didn't want to be stuck on the roads for eleven hours. Instead, Tom and I moved our bedroom downstairs because the drywall work is going to start upstairs this week. I can't believe how long this project is taking. I'm excited though...it is going to look so good eventually. Fell off my bike this morning- right in front of work going over the rails. It stung. My knee is all bruised and scraped. My hand and elbow are banged up and cut and worst of all my blue coat got ripped. Plus I am sure I looked like a spaz. Oh well. Could have been worse I am sure. My friend Kelly O is coming to town this weekend. I can't wait- it has been forever since we've hung out. Her friend is moving here so hopefully we will get to see each other more often.

January 13, 2006  Woah

Busy week. Had a company-wide presentation this Wednesday at Adobe headquarters in San Jose. I was working on the background image fades for the event, which was all set up dynamically and ended up being more programming than expected. That, compounded with traveling to San Jose and back two days in a row left me pretty exhausted.

Tuesday I found out that the public face of the author J.T. Leroy was actually my friend Savannah. This really blew my mind since I internet stalked J.T. a few years back and saw pictures of him in his wig and sunglasses. At the time I told people that somehow I knew J.T. or that he was really familiar- duh! I can't believe I didn't know. I am so impressed by the whole thing. I really am a fan and love the books, essays 'he' wrote for 7x7 mag. Most people I know aren't really familiar with J.T., but a few of my close friends and I really got into him. I even rented the Gus Van Sant film 'Elephant' because he worked on the film. I thought the film was interesting, but I was always moved by his writing. I was never completely sold that J.T. Leroy really existed or was who he said he was, but it really didn't matter. I grew up with these kinds of kids in foster care (my parents being foster parents) so the characters represented felt real- I mean stories like this aren't that far fetched. Anyhow I have about a million questions for Savannah. I mean, she's been hanging out with Winona Ryder, Pink, Courtney Love, and Billy Corgan among many others. How could we all not have known? I mean, brilliant. Just brilliant- and so rock and roll.

January 2 ,2006  Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to everyone. Ours was great- went to Tahoe over Christmas and went to a friend's party for New Year's (photos here- it was a bling themed party). Big hugs and kisses to everyone - here's to 2006!
